Culture? introducing Kuan Jia...

..On this fine Tuesday we have the wonderful artist named Kuan Jia. Kuan Jia is a young Chineese artist with loads of potential. We hope to see lots more from her. Kuan has kindly answered some of her toughts about her illustrations, so keep on reading. Here it is, your daily shot at art with Kuan Jia:

..Boy in pink..

..Kori..
..Bird clouds sky...

..Rainy day..

Can you tell the readers a little bit about yourself, name, what country you live in, age etc?

My name is Kuan Jia, 20. I live in Qingdao (small but peaceful city), China. I 'm obsessed with magazines.

-What inspired you to start being creative?
Well, I 'm always excited to draw girls wearing fancy clothes since i was little, and now i'm inspired by models with special character and amazing collections by fashion designers.
(I'm a different kind of "fashion victim")

-Is making art your fulltime job, and if not, what else do you do?Not now, cuz I still study in college. But being a freelance illustrator is definitely the top choice for me, can't wait to do that!

-Have you gone to art school, if yes where did you go and what did you study?
I study in Jiangnan University, my major is graphic design. But I'm losing my interest in that...

-Where do you find inspiration?By making observations so that I can find inspiration everywhere : )
Mostly from magazines (Vogue, Dazed & Confused, i-D, Numéro,W...), models, fashion cellections, movies...

-Do you have a favorite artist and if so who and why?Not particularly, i appreciate all kinds of art work and easily be touched, especially photography.
So there are my long-time favorites: Tim Walker, his work are so dreamy!!! Paolo Roversi, amazing portrait shot! Hedi Slimane, Inez Van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin, Steven Meisel...
Also fashion designers, so many of them.

-Where can my readers see you`re work?Oh, i'm afraid just here in my flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/circumference/
i have no idea how to make a personal website : (
